SENIOR EVALUATION CONSULTANT for a small firm with big impact Datu Research is a high-energy consulting firm that provides the right data to leading foundations, NGOs and governments working to solve the biggest challenges facing humanity. We are a close team that works hard together in a fast-paced environment that encourages innovation and joint decision making. Datu seeks an experienced Senior Evaluation Consultant. The successful candidate must have experience designing and leading performance evaluations, performance monitoring systems, surveys and assessments in various international settings. This person must have demonstrated business development experience, including writing proposals and M&E methodology approaches. This position is based in Datu’s headquarter office in Durham, NC and will involve international travel. The position is contingent upon a pending contract and is potentially renewable, based on future business development. Responsibilities

  • Lead and be responsible for overall management of research projects in Africa, Latin America and Asia
  • Develop methodologies to meet deliverables required
  • Prepare project work plans and arrange logistics
  • Manage a diverse project team
  • Identify and support key consultants and partners
  • Support on-the-ground team members and travel as needed to ensure project success
  • Support admin staff in tracking project costs and managing project budget
  • Serve as lead analyst for interpreting survey results and other field data
  • Ensure on-time deliverables to client
  • Maintain positive, productive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Advise colleagues on other evaluation projects
  • Contribute to proposal development for future projects
  • Master’s degree or PhD in economics, international development, agriculture, public health, or other relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years of international development experience conducting research and managing projects in monitoring and evaluation, assessments, baseline studies, and data analysis
  • Degree or certificate in program evaluation
  • Certificate or appropriate credential in project management
  • Experience conducting on-the-ground research in international development contexts
  • Demonstrated experience in the writing and structuring of evaluation reports
  • Mastery of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative social research and evaluation methods
  • Knowledge of relevant statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R-programming)
  • Experience using N-Vivo software
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and interpersonal skills, leadership and collaboration, and ability to adhere to competing deadlines
  • Commitment to organizational growth, business development, positive team culture, and success
  • Knowledge of USAID-funded M&E programs and best practices
  • Subject matter expertise in micro-credit and financial inclusion is helpful but not required.
